Ode to Miguel

Miguel: king of the damned and forgotten
Illustrator of a slum paradise
Gift wrapped for bums and junkie parasites
Underprivileged tongues is who he spoke for
Endangered brilliance became his folklore
Love for the needle knew one equal
Penmanship about his Newyorico
Indentured servant to the serpent
Navigating through track marks that worsened
Everyday as his will cried for aid
Relief found in dust, cut by razor blades
Overshadowed art: to this world he gave.
